Hi there! We are closing in on week 9, and we have achieved so much these past weeks!
A few quick reminders: this week is parent teacher CONFERENCES. I will be recording your meeting time in your child's agenda in case you have forgotten your time. Please be on time, as I am scheduled back-to-back all the way through the evening. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (October 7, 8, and 9th) are EARLY RELEASE days for these conferences. Also, next week starting October 12th it is FALL BREAK--there is no school for the entire week! :) Enjoy the much deserved rest!
Last week your child completed the Math and ELA (reading) Benchmarks. I will be discussing your child's scores with you during conferences, and if we have already met, feel FREE to e-mail or call in regards to your child's results.
Some of the important skills we are working on are:
Lapsed Time - using story problems to tell how much time has passed, using a clock and number line.
Summarizing - telling the main idea and key details about the story
Dictionaries - recognizing guide words and how they can help us find dictionary entries
Rounding - rounding two digit numbers to the nearest 10, on a vertical number line
Answering questions - using a restatement of the question in our answers to give a complete response
Writing - writing narratives involving an introduction, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion; using circle maps to help organize our thoughts
We have been hard at work! As always, if you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected]. Have a lovely day!
