I hope everyone has enjoyed their Fall Break! We are diving right back into things here in 3rd Grade.
First, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday the 19th, 20th and 21st are all HALF days due to Parent Teacher Conferences. School will dismiss at 11:45 am and your child's conference time is written in their agenda for your convenience.
Secondly, as we took our Benchmarks the week before Fall Break, I will be going over your child's score with you at parent teacher conferences. If I had already had your conference, I will be sending the score report home with a note.
Lastly, I will be carving pumpkins this year with the kids. We will be working on estimation and rounding as the kids will guess approximately how many seeds are in their pumpkin before opening it up and counting them. That being said, please send your child to school with a SMALL pumpkin in order for them to participate in this activity. You can start sending them to school with the pumpkins this week. We will be carving on Wednesday the 26th of October. Please let me know if you are available to come and help with this process.
In class this week we are working on writing our five paragraph essays with an introduction, three body details and a conclusion.
In math we are working on rounding and estimation with numbers in the tens and hundreds.
We are reading a lovely story called Loved Best in Literature where we are focusing on plot and character emotions and feelings.
In Social Studies, we are learning about the structure of the United States Government. Focusing on the three branches and the democracy process.
As always, if you have ANY questions or concerns, please e-mail or call me!
With love,
Ms. Marsh
